Meet Cristin: One of Our Spring Box Reviewers! - Sabbatical Beauty

Hey Cristin! We’re so thrilled to have you on as a Spring Box Reviewer! Could you start by telling us about yourself?

Hello all! I’m a single mom of a precocious three year old. We live in North Florida and are lucky to have my entire immediate family in the area. I’m smack dab in the middle of a career change, which is both exciting and a little terrifying. Whenever possible I’m at the beach. There is no such thing as a bad day at the beach, and we have some of the world’s most beautiful just a short drive away. Books, food with friends and time outside pretty much rounds out our days. I’m absolutely delighted to be a reviewer, and hope that I can give back to the SB community.

Awesome. Now could you tell us about your skin type, and the the conditions for spring for you?

I have aging skin with some sun damage (remember that thing about the beach?). I also laugh a lot so fine lines around my eyes and mouth are not so fine. On my face I have combination skin, that tends to be oily, and is prone to hormonal acne breakouts. What once was blackhead city is now blackhead village. Also, I sweat ALL THE TIME. The skin on my neck and décolletage has been vastly improved so I can no longer claim crepey skin.

Great, now tell me about what SB products have worked, and have not worked for your skin, so hopefully some SB folk can find a “skin twin” in you!

This is hard, because I love just about everything. Vacuum Cleaner Cleansing Oil is a life changer. I forgot to mention this in my live video and I feel awful, because without it my blackheads rear their ugly, well, heads. I’ve tried using VCCO only in the evenings, but my skin prefers it when I double cleanse in the AM and PM. I’m currently using Rose Foaming Cleanser as my second cleanser, but I also enjoyed the Cucumber Mint Foaming Cleanser in the summer.

For serums, my go-to serums right now are: Peat, Glow Pressed Serum, Red Wine Pressed Serum and Dorian Gray. All four address anti-aging, dark spots and work well in my climate. In the winter I’m able to layer more than in the spring and summer, when I have to keep it bare bones or look like I’m covered in vaseline. I really enjoy a sleeping pack but in the summer I end up sticking to my pillow case.

Oils! Who would have thought that I would be putting oil ON my face. The Camellia Gold Beauty Oil and the Sleeping Beauty Oil are both in rotation as is Maple Essence Toner (not an oil but I have to mention it!)

The only product that has flat out not worked for me is the Anti-Aging Eye Gel Oil. It caused me to breakout along my orbital bone and eye irritation. I tried several ways of applying it and it’s just not for me. Lastly, I feel that the Rose Balm Cleanser leaves my skin too oily after a double cleanse. I use it in conjunction with Bethany and to remove makeup, but do not regularly cleanse with it.

And masks. I use almost all the masks: Holy Lotus, Bethany, Sake Kasu, Camel Milk & Yeast, Camellia Rose, Nourish, DREAM.

We’re so excited to work with you! More soon!
