Hi, thank you so much for talking to us today! Tell us a little about yourself.
Hey beautiful people! My name is Sasha, I’m turning 40 (gasp!!) later this year, Malaysian, currently living in the tiny island of Singapore. I’m a school canteen operator, and a full time mommy to two teenage girls (18 &16). God help me! *laughs*
Yes, I have two full time jobs (seriously, when is mothering not a full time job?). I also am a part time wife - Sam travels for work most of the time; hence, part time. :D
I love being creative. Scrapbooking, cross stitching, free hand embroidery, photography, weaving, knitting, you name it, I’ve probably done it. I just finish a huge ass (to me) cross stitching project that I’m so proud of, it’s on my IG @sashafarina if you’re interested. ;)
I also love food. Food is life.
Can you tell me about how you felt about your skin before you tried Sabbatical Beauty? How did you feel about the products you were using at the time?
I’ve always been a skin care junkie. Trying this and that, all with ‘meh’ results. I’ve always felt like ‘maybe that’s it’ you know? Like my skin can’t get better no matter what. The products I’ve been using, even if they ‘work’ to some level, they stop doing so after 2-3 months and I’ll be on the hunt for the next thing to try. It was exhausting. It was a chore. Not once or twice that I’ve given up and just do nothing to my face.
What were your biggest fears and struggles about trying new skincare lines?
OMG. I hate going to brand counters asking for recommendation, or even just browsing. It was either they ignore me or start promoting everything under the sun while looking hard at my face and saying nonsense like “this magical potion will make your pores disappear!”. Hard selling turn me off. No. Just no thank you very much. *walks away*
How did you discover Sabbatical Beauty?
Facebook Ad! Thank GOD! It was an ad for Camellia Rose Exfoliating Wash Off Mask. Facial in a jar? I was intrigued to say the least. Then I joined the FB group, lurked, but not for long because while doing so I discovered thatI FOUND MY PEOPLE!!
What made you decide to try Sabbatical Beauty?
What results did you hope to see with Sabbatical Beauty, and did you achieve those results?
I wanna slow down the aging process (40 this year? Remember?! sheeshhh!). I’m oily, yes, but dry at times. I guess I wanna balance my skin. I’m happy with my simple MET - APH - Marine - Sunscreen in the morning. My skin no longer feel tight, or super oily most days. I guess that’s the balance I was looking for. Of course it varies day by day - I’m learning to listen to my skin, which is a lot different than slapping products and forgetting about it until the next time I wash my face.
Now that you have integrated Sabbatical Beauty into your regimen, how do you feel about your skin?
Sb has made me even more of a skincare fanatic. I’m always masking at the end of the day so my skin is definitely feeling loved. #teammasking unite! I love that SB has ‘something’ for every skin concern of mine. I love my skin, my skin loves me. It’s mutual, you see?!
Many people tell us that they find the Sabbatical Beauty Facebook community one of the best parts of the brand. What’s been your experience in the community?
For me, it must be making new friends that I know I will keep forever. I mean FOREVER. The FB group is my ‘internet home’ now. My safe place. That is saying a lot these days, don’t you think?!
Adeline worked hard to build that place for us and I’m forever grateful.
If you were a SB product, which one would you be?
Why one? That is like asking me to pick a favorite child! Where is the fairness in the world? :P
But if I have to choose, I’m Sakekasu Mask! Why, you ask? It’s an amazing mask which will treat acne and will brighten the skin at the same time. Not everyone will like the smell though, like me, it’s an ‘acquired taste’. I came across a meme on the internet some time ago which goes like this - I’m an acquired taste. Don’t like me? Acquire some taste. *laughs*
