Dale is in her 50s and has combination skin, an oily T-zone, with dryness around the cheek and eye areas. Her concerns are minor acne, blackheads, rosacea, and fine lines. She lives in New Jersey, USA, which is a midatlantic climate. Lately it has been fluctuating between cool and warm temperatures; in the summer it may get hot and humid (75+ degrees Fahrenheit).
General Impressions
I never thought I’d say that I had such a hard work week while having such a good skincare week. Never. This was a demanding week of too little sleep, too much work, and extra caregiving, but my face does not reflect the week I had. While it was a hard work week, I loved the work I was doing. Thesummer box gave me time to celebrate summer scents, self care, happy skin, and my journey toward balance.
Changes I’ve seen
I’ve seen increasingly less redness, and my dry patches on my cheeks, around my eyes, and above my eyebrows are gone--GONE! My t-zone is no longer oily, and all of my SB products are working better for me now that I exfoliate morning and night.

Any changes I’ve made
I now use Janah’s Strawberry Cocktail Exfoliating Toner morning and night. It leaves my face smoother and mostirized. It also helps my skin drink in more of the SB products I use, and my sunblock applies more evenly now. I used to get patches of sunblock that wouldn’t absorb because of my dry patches.
Overall thoughts
For every conference paper I have ever given or important function I have attended, I have worn makeup because that is what made me feel most comfortable. While I still enjoy makeup, I do not reply on it to make me comfortable. I attended an important function this week, and, for the first time, I wore no makeup save for Rose Gold Lip Tint. I was comfortable in my own skin. I am fifty-eight and my skin has wrinkles when I smile and some age spots. My life shows in my face, and that is what I want. What no longer shows is skin having to fight against me (my ways) for balance. SB taught me to listen to my skin. I often talk about the importance of meeting students where they are. I’ve learned to meet my skin where it is on a given day. I now know what to do when a new medication throws me an unexpected change in my skin, or what to do when I’m working too hard and under stress. Knowing how to make changes in my skin care, while also honoring my morning and nightime routine (most of the time): my commitment to self care, is a new habit--one I want to keep! I love how my skin feels and looks. My skin is at it’s best--not perfect, but smooth, glowy, balanced, hydrated, and SB happy! <3
