Mugwort Beauty Water

  • Adeline first got interested in Mugwort when they realized it had become a cult kbeauty ingredient. Said to really tamp down on inflammation, to possess antibacterial and antifungal properties and contain powerful antioxidants, they figured this was worth trying.

For this reason, Mugwort Beauty Water contains a base of both Mugwort Hydrosol, or Distillate, as well as Mugwort Vinegar from Gotham Grove, which sources small batch medicinal vinegars from Korea which have never been sold outside of Korea before. We're especially excited by this because this provides two ways for your skin to enjoy the beneficial properties of mugwort, both in terms of a decoction via the distillate, as well as via using vinegar as a solvent, which will at all levels enhance the health of your skin microbiome.

As with all our other Beauty Waters, this Mugwort Beauty Water also contains a tiny amount of foaming silk to cleanse your face without the need to wash it, and a mild fruit acid complex which gently exfoliates your skin so it can even better absorb the beneficial components of Mugwort.

Interesting note, when Adeline started doing even more of a deep dive, they became fascinated by how multiple cultures have utilized their indigenous species of mugwort for various healing and magical uses. In traditional Chinese medicine, mugwort is used in moxibustion, a form of heat therapy which helps to invigorate the movement of energy in the body and dispel pathogens. The Romans placed mugwort leaves inside their shoes for endurance and to alleviate fatigue. Mugwort is used in multiple witchcraft traditions for protection and divination, and when placed by the bed, is also said to aid astral projection.

Holy Grail!

This toner is my #1 can't-live-without SB product. The vinegar smell is light and herbal, and dissipates quickly. But it's effects are what make this a keeper: smooth, mattified skin that glows, but doesn't shine, feels soft and not tight, and is sooo clear. I've only had one (tiny!) zit since I started making this a regular part of my routine. A quick swipe at night helps additional serums and moisturizers absorb, while a touch in the morning helps prep skin for sunscreen and makeup. It feels cooling and has reduced my redness down to nothing! I can usually skip foundation and get by with a touch of tinted spf these days thanks to magical Mugwort ⭐🤩✨

Fabulous!

I was in mourning for Peppermint Beauty Water until I tried Mugwort. I use it at night when I can't face the duck bath of double cleansing (which is most nights). The classic Beauty Water is a bit harsh for my skin. Mugwort gives my skin a glow with no added redness. I think this is the perfect product for anyone with sensitive skin or redness. <3

I don't like toners but this one is good :)

I haven't used a toner in years because they almost always sting and leave my sensitive skin dry and taut, especially my cheeks. It was a bit of a gamble purchasing the travel size of the Mugwort Beauty Water but it was actually gentle enough for me and maintained my skin's hydration (i.e. not dry or oily) throughout the day. It smells vinegar-y and earthy but which dissipates after a while. I don't use cotton pads because I'm trying to reduce single-use waste so I pour a bit in my palm and pat it on my face and let it dry. I am considering purchasing the full size and then outfitting it with a spray nozzle. I may make my own reusable face pads if I do decide to use this for cleansing purposes!

One of my favorite products

I don’t wear makeup, but I do work in construction, and by the end of the day I am usually a dusty mess. A thorough swipe with a small amount of this stuff takes away all that pore-clogging garbage I am usually covered in after a full day’s work: sawdust, sweat, tool oil, diesel exhaust, soot, and the general gunk of daily life. The Mugwort is a little gentler on my undereye areas than some of the other Sabbatical beauty waters, so if you’re a delicate flower like me (haha), then this might be the choice for you. The scent is unique and quite earthy, which I have grown to love.

Use it, love it, recommend it

It removes makeup, cleans and refreshes. And my skin feels great after using it. I think the mugwort must be magic.
