Our Allure-featured Got Grits? set features a set of an oil cleanser and charcoal mask with fruit acids to help you clear out those dreadful under-your-skin clogs that sometimes erupt into painful pimples, without harsh extractions.
Many of our customers who have tried this set find that those clogs (which the skincare community calls "grits") emerge in the course of using this set - leaving you with soft, smooth and unclogged skin! These clogs are called "grits" because they feel like hard little grits on your fingers when they emerge.
While not everyone gets grits, most people notice an improvement in skin clarity and smaller-looking pores as a result of using this set!
Set contains: 1 oz (travel size) Vacuum Cleansing Oil, 0.5 oz (travel size) Bethany Charcoal Mask, a routine card and a Sabbatical Beauty pouch. Get Gritty!

Instructions:Beginning with a dry face, apply a thin layer of Vacuum Cleansing Oil to your skin. Lightly massage, then rinse off. Next, apply a layer of Bethany mask and leave on for 20-30 minutes, or until it dries. Rinse off. Dry your face. Again, apply another layer of Vacuum Cleansing Oil onto your skin. Massage lightly. Leave on your face for 10 minutes, then massage again. At this point, many people feel "grits", or the oil clogs, leaving your skin. (Note: Not everyone gets "grits," but your oil clogs will leave through this technique.) Rinse off, and enjoy smooth, soft skin! Follow with the rest of your routine.
Note: the fruit acid complex may make your skin more photosensitive, so please use sunscreen if using this product.

I found SB by chance on Instagram and followed because I wanted to support Asian, women-owned, and small businesses, and that the owner is unapologetic about her opinions and is transparent about her business practices is a bonus! My skin is quite sensitive and I have to be extra careful when I try new skincare products. I try to go as clean as I can and spent quite a bit on Credo last year, so I wasn't really looking to buy anything. But I was intrigued by this Got Grits set, and thought maybe it might also help my tween who's on the cusp of puberty.
The first time I tried both products, my skin reacted quite badly-- it stung when I first applied the mask, and when I washed it off, I found red bumps on the areas where I applied the mask. Needless to say I was really disappointed, because the set isn't cheap! But I gave it a second try a couple of weeks later, and am now hooked on the results! My skin is super smooth afterward, and I haven't had any terrible reactions since that first time.
I really like both products on their own and together. The VCO washes off surprising easily and does not leave any oily or tacky residue. I imagine it'd be a gentle eye makeup remover! I've found the best method to wash off BCM is in the shower, where I can also exfoliate my décolleté area with the diluted mask that was being washed off. I still have more than half of the VCO but will be placing an order of the full-sized BCM soon!
I purchased The GOT GRITS? for myself first. Suffering from blackheads and large pores on my nose and chin, I thought I’d give this a try. After using for one month, I purchased four more GOT GRITS? for the women-children in my life. While the process may feel consuming (takes me about 1.5 hours to do it all (bear in mind I’m a slow reader too!), I can’t get enough of how wonderful my skin feels for days on end. The month’s experience has taught me what I need to share with my women-children who have extremely busy lives. I adore setting aside time each Sunday or Monday for this special treat for myself. You will too!
I just used my set for the first time and I’m totally in love. It really prepped my skin for my serums to penetrate more. I could feel it with every step. Intensely clean feeling! Is it odd if I feel like I look younger after one use?! Looking forward to continuing my skincare journey with Sabbatical Beauty products.
I’ve used baby oil and a plain clay mask for the grit removal method, but I like this got grits? set a lot better. The rose balm smells divine and the Bethany coal mask is effective at acne control and reducing the appearance of large pores without being drying. I’ll definitely be repurchasing
