In this series, we have our Summer Box Reviewers introduce themselves and let you know what their skin types and climates are like, so hopefully you can find a "skin twin" in them! Today we're speaking to Rachel! Want first dibs on the Summer Box? Sign up here!
Hey Rachel! We’re so thrilled to have you on as a Summer Box Reviewer! Could you start by telling us about yourself?
Hi everyone! I’m so excited to be here. My name is Rachel. I live in Singapore, which is constantly hot and humid. Three things I really enjoy are reading (pretty much anything but murder thrillers are my fave), fried chicken, and lazing around at home. Three things I do not enjoy are slow walkers, intentional ignorance, and accidentally scraping the roof of my mouth with a really hard baguette. (These are not exhaustive lists.)
Awesome. Now could you tell us about your skin type, and the conditions for summer for you?
I have normal-to-oily, unpredictable skin that pretty much works like the weather: one day it’ll be fine, the next it’s just a mess. At the moment, I’m dealing with a ton of clogged pores and some acne on my cheeks and forehead, so there’s also a lot of texture and scarring going on.
Summer in Singapore is year-round, with temperatures going up to 35ºC or around 95ºF. Humidity is hella high, so there are definitely a lot of oil slicks walking around!
Great, now tell me about what SB products have worked, and have not worked for your skin, so hopefully some SB folk can find a “skin twin” in you!
My top picks for SB are definitely Vacuum Cleaner Cleansing Oil, Maple Essence Toner, Blueberry and Cream II Mask, and Donkey Milk Gel Sleeping Pack. They’ve all helped my skin in different ways: the VCCO and MET really help me get the grits out of my skin and stay fresh and matte, the mask is great for hydration without over-doing it, and DMGSP is just the perfect last step to seal everything in at night PLUS it’s great for acne.
Things that haven’t really worked for me are Pumpkin Spice Latte Serum, Apple Cider Serum, and Rose Cleansing Balm. The two serums are seasonal, but I generally find that thicker serums don’t absorb as well for me, and end up sitting on my skin.
We’re so excited to work with you! More soon!
