Solidarity Roots Licorice Mask

  • Wake up your skin and your spirit with this reviving and brightening mask. Licorice Root is a well-known natural agent to help fade discoloration and even out skin tone. It contains glycyrrhizin, which has been found to mimic the hormone cortisol, which helps to reduce inflammation.

Licorice Root also contains glabridin, a type of compound that helps fade the appearance of age spots and discoloration, while stimulating the body to produce more collagen and hyaluronic acid. Other active ingredients in this mask include honey for tamping down redness and healing skin irritation, and rice bran oil for extra emollience and anti-aging properties.

    Ingredient Deep Dive:

🌿 Licorice root: This mask contains both licorice root extract and licorice root powder. This botanical ingredient is well known for helping treat and heal discoloration and even skin tone gently and naturally.

🌿 Hyaluronic Acid: Hyaluronic Acid is a cult skincare ingredient because of its tremendous power to hydrate. A compound which naturally occurs in your skin, hyaluronic acid is able to retain over 1000x its weight in water. Incorporating hyaluronic acid in your skincare will provide very deep hydration

🌿 Purified Honey: Honey helps treat redness and irritation, is antibacterial and anti-inflammatory

Where'd That Spot Go?

I have used this reformulation of the Dorothy Licorice mask a few times this week and after one of the day, I realized that one of my stubborn age spots had really lightened up. I use Coconut serum, too, so that combination seems to have really helped, but I think this mask is a key reason. If you used the first iteration, it was clumpy and I really didn't like it. There has been more oil (or something) added here and some honey for moisture so that the mask spreads more evenly and stays on better. Once it dries I really, truly see new skin and a brightening effect. Totally recommend. (the picture is immediately after washing it off)

Dorothy's II is even better than the original!

I loved the results from the first iteration of the Dorothy mask, though it was a bit dry, texture wise. The new Dorothy is just as brightening as the old one and its texture is much improved! This is a mask that gives results!

The Best Exfoliation

Smells divine, spreads easily, provides the absolute best exfoliation ever, dries with just a little satisfying tightening sensation, and leaves the skin bright without feeling dry or looking blotchy — what's not to love?! Afterward, my skin is ready to absorb all the loveliness of Adeline's serums.

Licorice for lupus?!

(Full disclaimer : I am not a medical professional and this is also not a product vetted by a medical professional! All opinions are just from my own personal experience). Okay, whew. With all the disclaimers aside - this product was a surprise MVP. I get flare-ups from my lupus and that basically means redness, inflammation, acne/cyst-like breakout all over my face. Licorice apparently helps with that as I masked when I was having a huge flare-up and it helped soothe + cool my skin. My skin felt moisturized afterwards and a lot calmer. I am not the biggest fan of the texture (it's a bit slimy) but the effects were very good for the flare-up.

YES!

My GOODNESS, YES! I've been around SB long enough to have remembered the first iteration of Dorothy's Mask, and this is just an amazing reformulation! It is easier to spread, and it still has the same brightening power as the original. I always find my skin to be positively GLOWING once I rinse it off, and I can't get enough of that feeling. This doesn't leave crumbles all over my sink after application, and my skin loves it all the same.
