Piper’s Peat Serum

10 items left
  • The miracles of peat stem from its amazing preservative qualities. If you do a google search on "bog butter" and "bog bodies" and you'll find some astonishing examples of things have have been preserved in peat bogs for centuries that appear to be way fresher than they actually are.

Peat is starting to become a cult skincare ingredient, so much so that there are Korean and Irish skincare lines devoted purely to peat. Peat extracts have been used in recent years to cure inflammatory skin conditions like eczema and psoriasis.

According to an article in the Journal of Cutaneous and Aesthetics Studies, the power of peat stems from its richness in humic substances, natural chemicals that develop from the decomposition of organic matter in humus. Humic substances have been documented to have astringent effects, thus regulating excessive oil production, antibacterial and anti-inflammatory properties and may even be to a degree protective against UVB rays.

Sabbatical Beauty customers have found Peat Serum to be a favorite for tightening and diminishing the appearance of pores, and to clear congested skin. Used in conjunction with our Got Grits? set, Peat is highly effective in helping to remove skin clogs without extractions.

Our Peat Serum is 93% peat extract, and named after our lovely community member, Valette Piper-Bledsoe.

I was really hoping this product would be worth the money however, I was not impressed.

Loved the sample…

I loved the sample a lot. I used it with Asian Powerhouse and Camel Milk Cream and would wakeup with soft and smooth skin. During the day, this peat serum smoothed out my pores well. When I ran out I immediately bought the full size.

The texture of the serum in the full size is very thick, much thicker than the sample size. Initially I thought it’s not a big deal, maybe it might be more potent! I’ve noticed there’s some pilling though which I understand means I might have used too much. So I just need to find the right amount, to get back to the same consistency as the sample!

HOW HAVE I LIVED WITHOUT PIPER'S PEAT SERUM IN MY LIFE??!!!?

I have sensitive, combination, breakout-prone skin. My t-zone is ALWAYS oily, and my nose is prone to blackheads and enlarged pores. i am very allergic to silicones so i can't use most makeup primers, especially mattifying ones. When i used liquid foundations i would need setting powders at least once or twice a day, and always carried oil blotting sheets with me. Now i use mineral powder foundation but i still always need setting powder on my t-zone, UNTIL NOW!
I've only been using piper's peat for a few days so far, but already the impossible has happened and my t-zone is matte without needing any setting powder, and it STAYS matte all day!!! No touch ups, no blotting sheets, no makeup separation from oil!! It's too soon to see any changes in the pores on my nose but based on other reviews I'm hopeful, and i am seriously blown away by the changes in my skin that I'm already seeing!

Honey Who Shrunk the Pores?

Since using PP, I've noticed that my pores -- granted, not huge to begin with -- seem a bit less visible. I'm also noticed that my skin appears more "matte" when I apply PP as a first serum.
