She's A Sabbatical Beauty: Jane Barnette

Jane is a lovely lady Adeline got to know while Adeline was still  a full time professor. She's the mastermind who suggested the Sabbatical Beauty Rewards System!

Tell us about you!
I am a dramaturg, which means I do research about and for live performances and help playwrights develop their new plays. I also teach at the University of Kansas, where I will be going up for tenure and promotion next fall (eeep!). I write about adaptation dramaturgy, which I call adapturgy, and I just recently finished my first book (on that topic)!  I love to do yoga (though I don’t make nearly enough time for it!), and I have a 12-year old tuxedo (gray and white) cat named Izzy. I am also a stepmom to two teenage girls (13 and 16)!
What makes you angry?
Willful ignorance, especially with regard to racism, sexism, and homo- and transphobia. Drumpf.
What makes you happy?
My cat’s purr, making my parents laugh, my partner and his stepdaughters’ joy, and teaching.
If you were an SB product, which product would you be, and why?
I’m thinking I’d be one that hasn’t materialized quite yet… a lash serum! One of my obsessions is makeup--I was a makeup artist with Estee Lauder and I’ve worked on stage and film sets as a makeup designer--so, I’d like to see Adeline keep branching out into the overlap area between makeup and skincare. But in terms of (once-) current SB products, I guess I’d identify most with Eden face mist, because I am not super-popular, but those folks who love me really adore me, and find me refreshing. Ha!  :)
What’s your desert island SB product, and why?
In terms of tried-and-true, it would have to be Dorian Gray serum. It has made a huge difference in my fine lines and in the overall brightness of my skin. BUT in the forthcoming CRISP line, I’m already LOVING the DG oil, which I use a tiny bit of every day, and the Ekaterina cream to use at night as a sleeping pack.
What is your favorite thing about your skin?
It used to be SO sensitive that I hated any redness because it meant more irritation. But now I have to say that I love my rosy cheeks, because they are no longer ruddy or rough--they glow!
