Amber Crawley
Tell us about you!
I’m a linguist (B.A. University of Kansas, 2006), polyglot (but don’t ask me “How many languages do you know?” unless you want a looong explanation full of disclaimers about what it does, doesn’t, might, or might not mean to “know” or “speak” a language), former chef/cookbook author/nutritionist, wife, and mom to a 1.5-year-old son, the light of my life.
What makes you angry?
Know-it-alls who think there’s nothing left in the world for them to learn.  Cruel, judgmental internet assholes.  Hypocrites.
What makes you happy?
My son’s bright eyes and cheesy grin.  The thrill of tackling a new language or reigniting a dormant one.  Classic literature.  World travel.  Dark, heavy music.  Skincare.  German beer.  Inside jokes.  Rippling purple sunsets.
If you were an SB product, which product would you be, and why?
Snail Serum.  I’m kind of weird and off-putting, and not everyone’s cup of tea, but some who get to know me might end up enjoying or benefiting from my presence.
What’s your desert island SB product, and why?
Dorian Gray Serum.  It’s luxurious, effective, and the name alone is gold.
What is your favorite thing about your skin?
I actually enjoy being pasty-pale.  The sun sensitivity is no joke, but my Casper skin is well-suited to my goth sensibilities.  I also have grown, over time, to appreciate (rather than despise) my oiliness.  I’ve heard it said that oily skin is young skin, so I’d better enjoy it while I’ve got it!
