This little bag of fourteen cards is designed to help you soothe your stress on the go -- standing in line, sitting in the parking lot, at your desk...wherever you need to find some calm!

Each simple practice is designed to be done in a short period of time - from 1-5 minutes - but you can also expand most of these to a formal practice of 10 minutes or more.

The fourteen cards are divided into seven categories: Grounding. Open. Gratitude. Love. Breathe. Energize. Joy.

These cards have been designed by Erin McCarthy, Ph.D., a philosophy professor and mindfulness teacher.

Grounding practice 1:

Feel the soles of your feet on the ground. Notice the sensations present there.

Gently rock or sway back and forth on your feet.

Feel how the floor supports your whole body.

When your mind wanders, gently return your attention to the soles of your feet. Begin to slowly walk, feeling the changing sensations in the soles of your feet.

Imagine that with each step, you are leaving behind an imprint of kindness, peace, strength or whatever you wish to cultivate in your life.

When you feel ready, return to standing and expand your awareness to your entire body, letting yourself be just as you are.

Carry it with you

I accidentally started carrying these around in my purse when I took them with me on a business trip. I think I'll continue to do this because these are so accessible for everyday/anytime use. When I'm having a moment at work (aka dealing with people), I'll take the cards out and find one that speaks to me in the moment. The exercises are very easy to do, especially at your work desk. The only reason I knocked a star off is because I'm prone to anxiety/panic attacks and some of the text was too small to focus on (the instructional text).

I will have these FOREVER

These are the greatest things I could have ever hoped to get in this box. I expected the skincare to be good, of course, but these cards?! An unexpected treat that I can take with me wherever I go. I love that they help me find my grounding and take breaths when I feel like things are spiraling out of control - and as PhD student? That happens A LOT. These come in a small cloth bag that you can toss in your purse or backpack, and really give yourself time whenever you need to. They're glorious and you should have them. They're priceless.

Mindfulness cards for the stressed, scattered and time-deprived

These cards are awesome! When it comes to meditation or mindfulness, my attention span is much less than my interest. Which is where Erin McCarthy’s cards come in. When I opened them, I was expecting writing prompts, or a guided mediation, what I got were quick and accessible ways for me to stop and reset my mind and body. There are seven categories of cards. Sometimes, I select one intentionally to address a specific feeling like love, other times I shuffle the cards and see what I get. Either way, I find myself surprised at how simple, yet meaningful each card has been.

My daughter and I have a nighttime routine that includes books and snuggles. On several occasions, I have used a card with snuggle time. One occasion, we did a breathing exercise together (perfect for settling down for bed), on another we reflected on things for which we were grateful.

Packed in a small drawstring back, these cards are easy to stash in a purse, brief case, diaper bag, backpack, you name it. And make excellent gifts for pretty much anyone.
