Last fall I made a mask I called Witches' Brew and this year I wanted to revisit it but to recall the ocean in it, as a nod to how I crossed many oceans and seas to live where I do now. Sea Witch's Brew is a shoutout to my inner Ursula.

So I made it with a base of red irish moss. You may know it as carrageen or chrondus crispus, which is a type of red algae. It's also amazing for your complexion. Its polysaccharides provides good skin food (prebiotic) to the good bacteria on your skin, which helps your skin barrier to work better (more hydrated, less wrinkly, less acne).

And because I love its smell, and for that special witchy feeling, I added a hint of Sage Essential Oil to it. It's just a touch so it should still work on sensitive skin. And Sage essential oil is historically applied on wounds to speed healing and discourage scarring, so it will take your tired feelings away and rejuvenate your skin.

Once or twice a week (or everyday if you need an instant skin boost), dollop on a generous layer after cleansing. When it dries or when you've had enough (I usually recommend 20-30 minutes), towel or wash off. Follow with toners, serums, creams, and all the other goodness.

Sea Witch's Brew Mask Ingredient List: Chrondus Crispus Extract, Sea Kelp Bioferment, Purified Honey, Licorice Powder, Leuconostoc/Radish Root Ferment Filtrate & Lactobacillus & Cocos Nucifera (Coconut) Fruit Extract, Water & Caprylyl Glycol & Hexylene Glycol & Wasabia japonica (Wasabi) Root Extract & Zingiber officinale(Ginger) Root Extract & Allium sativum (Garlic) Bulb Extract, Sage Essential Oil.

Explanation of some of the highlights in this Under The Sea Goodness:

🧙🏽‍♀️Chrondus Crispus Extract, aka Red Irish Moss, a type of seaweed that turns into a gel when mixed with water that has amazing anti-inflammatory and healing properties

🧙🏽‍♀️ Sea Kelp Bioferment is another skin renewing hero -- it basically is fermented sea kelp. Seaweed has been known to help repair skin (and general health) so startlingly that researchers are only just touching the surface about what it can do. Fermentation breaks down sea kelp to make the core components even more bioavailable to your skin.

🧙🏽‍♀️ Honey was added to provide more nourishing moisture and to to heal redness and irritation

🧙🏽‍♀️ Licorice Powder was added to give you a potent brightening effect so you get a glow up the moment you remove the mask

🧙🏽‍♀️ Sage essential oil, because #witchythings and because it contains a crazy amount of polyphenols and flavanoids which don't just give it its amazing scent, but also help scavenge free radicals for clear, bright skin.

Sea Hag Dreams

This is now one of my all time favorite masks! It makes my face feel so clean and fresh. After using it, my skin is firmer, but also feels soft and looks so bright. It dries pretty quickly, which is nice when you don’t have a lot of time to mask, but it doesn’t make my face feel dried out. It smells amazing as well- herbal and medicinal. I use this mask at least once a week! 💚

Mini Facelift

This mask is perfect for masking on the go, in fact, it is probably one of the most user-friendly masks I've ever used. The formula glides on your skin like butter and dries clear so I can put it on without worrying about getting it on my clothes (or scaring off my food delivery person). The smell is a delightfully relaxing herbal/medicinal scent which really helps me to relax after a busy day. The reason I call it a mini facelift is because immediately after I wash it off my skin looks brighter and tighter. It's the perfect pick me up for you and your skin!

Tighten and relax

I still don't know what this smells like but it's an amazingly relaxing medicinal smell. I've thought maybe it's sage but all I can tell you is that all the irish sea moss is fantastic for your face! It brightens, tightens, and relaxes you. Even better, it's nice and smooth and blends in well so you can incognito mask and no one knows! ;)

It’s home!

The first thing I noticed about this mask was the scent. Sage reminds me of Thanksgiving back home, and I’m so thankful for this mask!!

This mask feels cool as it works to firm up my tired, aging skin. When I remove the mask, my face is immediately brighter, my pores are smaller, and my skin is firmer.

This will be an important addition to my weekly skincare (and self-care) routine!

The Sea Hag that triumphs me, the skin hag.

I love how this mask is hassle free to use. It goes on easily, it is very spreadable, and even dries on my face quickly so that I can wear my glasses and go about my usual chores as I mask. And the effects are off the charts! Skin feels brighten, softer, smoother, and pores are smaller each time I use the mask. And I also love that it washes off easily when I just rinse it off with water or use a warm towel to wipe off. I hope this will be a core product that we can purchase whenever we run out, and not be a seasonal product!
